The Baume & Mercier story begins in 1830, when one of the first watch-making workshops was founded in Les Bois of Switzerland by the Baume family. In the next years the Company was expanded to London, USA, India, even to Australia by opening stores to that countries. At the period a series of numerous international awards in the most prestigious watch-making competitions led the firm to become one of the greatest watch-making companies. In 1918 Paul Mercier became the new member of the company and from that point it was named Baume & Mercier.
Landmark of Baume & Mercier was the adoption of the Greek letter Phi (Φ) in 1964, representing the perfect balance and proportions.
